MMM-CBHC Invites the Human Trafficking secretariat for an Official Introduction
Faraja has been known as the only organization performing Human Trafficking activities in the Singida region for the past three years. Faraja conducts the awareness raising program which seeks to inform and educate people about Anti human trafficking, HIV and AIDS, STIs, gender based violence, stigma and discrimination.
They do this with the intention of influencing people’s attitudes, behaviors and beliefs toward the achievement of a society that is knowledgeable about their health risks.
The activities are generally performed by the trained staff of Faraja, with the help of the 47 Community Health Workers, the Jukwaa and Local Government authorities from the 18 wards.
With the help of the Jukwaa, Faraja made an official request to the Human Trafficking secretariat, which operates under the Ministry of Home Affairs for an introduction and a presentation of Human Trafficking activities they have been performing.
The meeting was held in Faraja and was attended by representatives from the Tanzania’s HT secretariat, the Salvation Army and the Jukwaa. The secretariat commended Faraja for their hard work and achievements towards eliminating Human Trafficking in the region.
A representative from the Salvation Army commented, “It is almost impossible for an organization to conduct Human Trafficking activities to succession without cooperation and support from either the government or similar organizations. It is very amazing that we now know Faraja operates in the region because we have many pending cases from Singida that we can coordinate with together”
The meeting was fruitful, the secretariat representative promised Faraja an official recognition letter from the ministry, and whatever support and cooperation Faraja would need from the government and/or similar organizations.
