Voluntary Counselling & Testing Program
Faraja Centre CBHC offers HIV Counseling and Testing to all who voluntarily come for it. The Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT) program is done both at the Centre and in the villages as an outreach activity, when possible, targeting those that cannot reach the centre due to distance, time, fear or stigma, after awareness has been created. The VCT process consists of pre-test counseling, testing for HIV using a rapid test, post-test and follow-up counseling. HIV counseling is adapted to the needs of the client. It is offered to individuals, couples, families and even children, according to the set national guidelines.
Anti-Human Trafficking
The Anti Human Trafficking program seeks to inform and educate people about Anti human trafficking, HIV and AIDS, STIs, gender based violence, stigma and discrimination. This is with the intention of influencing their attitudes, behaviours and beliefs toward the achievement of a society that is knowledgeable about their health risks. It is mainly done by trained staff of Faraja and Community Health Workers from the different wards
Faraja Centre Palliative Care
The Faraja Hospice & Palliative Care Programme (FHPCP) was started in August 2012 after a modified Needs Assessment showed that people suffering from terminal illnesses in Singida Municipality had no access to treatment that they needed, especially for pain control. FHPCP provides Home Based Hospice & Palliative Care (PC) to those with terminal and chronic diseases in Singida Municipality. End of Life Care is its priority. The Programme does not refuse treatment, especially to patients needing morphine, to people outside of the Municipality if a family member can come to collect medications.
Social Department – MVCs Program
The social welfare department was officially started in 2010 to contribute to the increase of literacy levels in Singida under the supervision of a Social Welfare Officer at Faraja CBHC. Prior to this time, the program had existed as a part of the Home-Based care program. The major activity of this department is to assess, identify and interview the Most Vulnerable Children (MVCs) together with their families for school support. Students are identified through their parents after being tested and found that they are infected by HIV. Others are identified through social workers, the Home Based Care team and the Palliative Care team, from the community of Singida Municipality
